Viva Italia

Adrian Gregorutti

If you can’t make it to Venice, take a trip inside the private Calistoga residence of renowned Italian muralist Carlo Marchiori. From May through October, the Venice-trained master guides visitors around his exquisite Ca’ Toga villa during weekly Saturday tours. Marchiori, whose work appears in luxury hotels such as the Bellagio in Las Vegas, blended popular Venetian aesthetics with modern architectural elements to create his fantastical escape not far from his gallery. With a room that mimics the inside of a birdcage, a trompe l’oeil–adorned Pompeiian area, floor-to-ceiling frescoes, and the outdoor Doric temple ruins, all that’s missing is a canal with a gondola. $30 per person, catoga.com.
