Drive 15 minutes east of Napa to the slopes of Mount George, and you can discover both Zen-like wine tasting and an adventurous return to Napa’s past. Linda Betts and Natalie Rooney Pitts of Four Star Farm convinced Kenzo Tsujimoto to allow them to reintroduce horses to his 3,800-acre Kenzo Estate. The estate housed the Wild Horse Valley Ranch equestrian training facility before portions of the property were turned into a winery. Visitors can learn steering, grooming, and horseback gymnastics on competition-level horses, before exploring the winery’s 20,000-square-foot cave and sipping Murasaki, a small-batch Bordeaux blend available through the winery and at certain restaurants. Just make sure you sample after riding. fourstarfarm.com, kenzoestate.com.
