Listening to live music in the vineyards under the night sky is a Wine Country highlight. And every summer, the region offers dozens of shows to choose from. Here are some of our faves.


 

2017 Summer Concert Series, Rodney Strong Vineyards

The open-air theater in Healdsburg provides an intimate venue for summer shows. The lineup for 2017 features Chris Isaak, Kenny Loggins, Chris Botti, and Kool and The Gang. Bars around the concert green pour Rodney Strong wines. rodneystrong.com.

Festival Napa Valley

The world’s biggest music, dance, and theater stars descend on Napa Valley for 10 days every July, with concerts at nearly two dozen wineries. Gloria Estefan, Lester Lynch, and Joshua Bell are among the performers for this year; there also will be a special guest appearance by Bill Murray. Summer Concert Series, Robert Mondavi Winery

Music legends gather at Robert Mondavi Winery for an unforgettable music series. This summer’s roster includes Patti LaBelle, The Revivalists, and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. Proceeds benefit the Napa Valley Unified School District’s music program. robertmondaviwinery.com

 

Transcendence Theatre Company, Jack London State Historic Park

From Broadway to Disney to today’s biggest hits, this local thespian troupe gives rousing, toe-tapping musical performances during its summer-long concert series at the ruins of an old winery in Jack London State Historic Park. Shows run June 16–Sept. 10; preshow picnicking complete with live music on the lawn outside is a great way to get into the mood. transcendencetheatre.org.

 

Country Summer Festival, Sonoma County Fairgrounds

Northern California’s largest country music festival takes off at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds June 16–18. This year, artists including Thomas Rhett, Darius Rucker, Randy Houser, and Justin Moore will grace the main stage. Day and multiday passes are available. countrysummer.com.
